The WBQ repertoire is broad, varied, and always engrossing: the group’s versatility allowing it to move freely between musical genres, all the while maintaining its grip on the public’s imagination. It is precisely this breadth of repertoire that permits the WBQ to adapt itself to the most diverse circumstances. The elegance and rigor of early music (are allied to?), the particular fascination of Italian Melodrama, or the music of the classical-romantic tradition; The best of the world of movie soundtracks, pop music, jazz, and even some excursions into the repertoire of national folklore, are some of the elements used to turn receptions, celebrations, or other special events, into memorable occasions.

Here are just a few sample programs:

Wacky Story: Did you know that the Pachelbel Canon has inspired dozen of modern-day songs, or that your cell phone’s ring tone is by Bach, or that the “Merry Widow” owes its name to a misunderstanding? Come discover more anecdotes, hidden links, and other entertaining facts about music — all the way from the Renaissance to the present day.

Listening to (the) Movies: The WBQ invites you to hear the music behind the images: the music of those films that have left their mark on the history of cinema, that have made us laugh and cry. Come hear the music of the great movie partnerships of Rota-Fellini, or Morricone-Leone -Tornatore; or come, instead, and listen to the music of our childhood — the music of cartoons.

(Songs) Without Words: Already, at the time of the Renaissance, many songs were intended to be played by instrumental groups, as well as being sung by vocal groups. The WBQ continues this tradition with a twist, adding new timbres to “My Way”, “New York, New York”, “Carina(?)”, or “Volare”.

Brass at the Opera: Italy, England, Austria, France, America : from the 1600s to the 1900s. A voyage in time and space to re-live the emotions of the great arias, duets, chorales, overtures, symphonies, from Purcell to Verdi, from Mozart to Gershwin, from Puccini to Bizet: all for Brass Instruments.

Brass Dance: The WBQ presents ” Step-by-step”, music with silk brocade costumes and satin shoes, the music of the sumptuous balls of the Viennese Court; or the music of pointe shoes and tutus (Ballet), or again, the music of New Orleans, whose only kinship with dance lies in its name.
